As if they needed any more apps(lol) Google yesterday showed off its latest instant messaging app as well as a new video chat client. However unlike Apple with their iMessage/FaceTime, Allo and Duo are both cross platform so this could mean a high adaption rate or a disaster in the making.

This is also kinda confusing because Google also has Hangouts/Messenger so what on God's green earth is Google going to do with those apps, and how come Google couldn't kill off hangouts and just put all of the features from Allo/Duo into the Google Messenger.
