So if you remember there was news saying that Googke would faze out it's nexus smartphone line. Well that was some what true the nexus line will be cut but instead it will be changed to what Google calls Android Silver.

Android Silver will be Google's way to develop high end devices for the android brand. The phones for Android Silver will be made by OEM's and then will be sold to carriers, So basically if u wanted a nexus for verizon you couldn't but now hopefully with Android Silver you'll be able to as more OEMs will be on board. 

This means that Google is getting really serious with it's mobile OS Android and can directly compete with Apple with Android Silver.
